Veronica the Storyteller

April 12th, 2012

Within a few steps down the long pathway, the unlikely yet imaginative trio in unison raise their faces to the sky.  The clouds forming long feathery arms peel open the curtains of rain filled greys to allow the golden sun to burst forth.  The millions of sparkling spring fairies, swirl in a wondrous glistening whirlwind surrounding our trio and fly high with arms wide, welcoming the warmth of the sun in her glory.

The Storyteller spies a large pine tree, straining to raise her long, droopy, sad arms to the sun to bask in it's energy of glorious life....a soft whisper in Rat's little ear, and the chattering commences!   Scarlet races high to the top of the fairy whirlwind, and spinning, gathers their momentum and steers the sparkling fairies to return to the Storyteller and up into the green boughs of the sad pine.

Rat bounces and scampers with delight from bough to bough till she finds her perch and the sparkling spring fairies perch close, each choosing a pine needle to settle on.  The warm, golden energy of the gathered Sun's rays flowing through them and into the arms of the sad pine.  Aglow with renewed spring life, the pine warmly sighs, the sparkling fairies chasing winter's cold from her boughs.

The Storyteller lays out her white fur cloak on the grass under the Pine's boughs and a soft wave of "hush" whispers through the anticipating fairies.  Rat looks to the Sun, warming her whiskers and the tip of her sparse tail,...then bravely commences her tale.....on how Princess Raphaella with the long glistening black furry tail became Rat the Squirrel with the cold pink, scarcely a brittle black hair on her poor tail. ...Through the Eyes of the Storyteller....Rat's tale of her misfortunate tail had begun....V

Rat the black squirrel scampers up onto the dragging trail of my white fur cloak and Scarlet the red cardinal on to the silver ribboned branch of my Storyteller staff.  We determinedly step forth into the blustery winds, surrounded by a whirlwind of autumns leaf devils.  Reminders of last seasons cold tormentors, yet I am oblivious.  Together we pull the Storytellers white fur cloak shield snuggly around us.  Rat and Scarlet chatter scoldings to the chilled musty leaf devils tugging at the whisps of our protective white fur shield.  A gust launches a foray of springs sparkling fairies into a cluster of forcynthia bushes to the east of the Storytellers pathway and the imaginative troupe are immediately transposed into a world of the warm, soft butterfly kisses of bright sparkling yellow blossoms.  Springs song of the sparkling fairies douses autumns musty leaf devils as they wither into the realm of yesteryears.  The Storytellers journey has begun...Rat & Scarlet champions, in search of a tale...for Spring has arrived accompanied by new life as imagined in the Eye the Storyteller......V

As I head out to work into this grey wet morning,I open my door and I close my eyes....my world evolves....the mist in the air from the rushing waterfall of my imagination sparkles off my face....Rat the black squirrel and Scarlet the Red Cardinal stand to greet me, jingling the spurs in their little green leather boots....ready for today`s Adventures.....I open my eyes....I see my world through the Eyes of a Storyteller.....in my day`s adventure we need only imagine the glistening warmth of the morning sun and she greets us.......and the next Storyteller`s dance of life has begun!!!...V

They say today is a day for the fools.....how do you classify a fool?

Here I could get quite philosophical with reference to experiences in business or friendship occurances with "fools" during 2011 !!  ... however as usual.....I choose to take the high road..
..and slip slide away from the grease in that fat!!....

My preference is to think of life in general as a fun experience, shown through my love of displaying the slow gliding movements of the whooping crane dance following a corporate dinner engagement.
The unwitting  fool however engages the unlikely audience to embrace their inner fool and join the dance..
...with much flirtatious coaching
our evening "Ricardo"  waiter extraordinaire
was leading the waving sea of well suited ladies and gentleman across the floor.
Who says corporate meetings were boring?

Some years ago, my children were my only audience.
I being shy would never express my inner fool amongst others.
It was during this time that I encountered this poem by Yeats...
to find My Personal Inner Fool.....

It has hung in my laundry room for the past 8 years.
A rant I have performed in my jammies or an evening gown..
..a pause in my day to incorporate a Scottish lilt into an arm waving prose of greatest proportions....

Words to live by..
...enjoying a fun life as a Fool
and hoping to touch those around me with a moment of releasing their "inner Fool"..
..for if I am to leave an impression on someone,
I want them to recall our refreshingly  fun moment with a warm smile....
not as the serious idiot fool we choose to forget....
Happy April Fool's Day my friends!!!

December, 2011,  Festival of Trees!!

Once upon a time, there was a Storyteller.  Her name was Veronica.  Veronica loved to dress up in costumes and Veronica the Storyteller, loved to tell her stories to children.

Veronica the Storyteller told many, many stories.  Always her stories were about adventures children have in their imaginations.  One story was of Cassie rescuing the sad and lonely Moon Boy on the same night her Mommy and Daddy brought home her new baby brother!  Another story was of Sissy's Adventures teaching crazy monsters to eat healthy snacks, and there's one all about Sophia learning when to have Silly fun!  Veronica just had to look into her grand storyball and another story adventure would begin!

Veronica the Storyteller traveled far and near, reading her stories to children and in return the children told Veronica many stories of their own adventures in imagination!  It was Veronica the Storyteller's biggest wish that children all around our beautiful world would love to have adventures in their imagination, love to read stories, love to write stories & love to draw fun pictures.  However the grandest adventure was for every child to learn, just like the children in Veronica's stories that no matter what happens in their stories or what happens around them everyday, that they can always have good adventures just being themselves and being good to others.

Then one day a horrible yucky witch tried to take away Veronica the Storyteller's fun with Storytelling.  That yucky witch was sooooooooo jealous of Veronica's fun with telling children stories, that the more she tried to take away the fun, the more she stomped her feet.  Every time the yucky witch stomped her feet, blue bubbles would pop up around her.

And the more she stomped her feet the madder she got.  And the madder she got, the more she stomped her feet.   Until there were so many blue bubbles that the yucky witch just disappeared forever in blue bubbles.

So Veronica the Storyteller looked long into her grand storyball because just like she always tried to teach the children, yucky things can happen, but if you really want everything to turn out okay in your grand adventure story, you can change the yucky parts into giggles & fun , just like blue bubbles!!

Veronica the Storyteller continued to have wonderful fun adventures telling many, many stories to children everywhere and children everywhere learned to never, never do yucky things to people.  However if yucky things happen like yucky witches......let them stomp their feet.....because we all get giggles from the blue bubbles they make when they do!!!
